Well... like I said at the end off last post it is full steam ahead... well I don't want any of you to have to believe that there is NO time for fun and games... it just has to be well organized.
Well this post is dedicated to the fun and games some of us were able to have today! Sarah Y (one of my roommates) had the brilliant idea of planning a trip to Samal IslandIt is just across the bay from Davao (closer that Chemanius is to Thetis).
It sounded like a ton of fun... and definitely worth forfeiting part of a day of studying! So I went.
Seven of us took off to Samal just after 8am this morning. It was such a grand day!
We took taxis to the ferry... not quite like BC ferries, but not so pricey either (maybe 16 cents one way)... and boarded this rad little boat that took us to Samal. We hired three motorbikes for the day and our three drivers took us all over the place. So from 9am when we got there until 2:30pm when we left we road around in style on the back of these dirt bikes... helmet less... pavement less... and loving it!
We first went to these crazy bat caves... SO MANY BATS!! The sound of them was incredible! I wish I could describe just how many bats there really were. This picture doesn’t do them any justice. It was great. Some of us even went down into the cave... CREEPY, but wonderful!
Then we rode to this amazing little hidden beach and had our packed lunches. It was amazing... and the ocean was SO warm... like bathtub warm! To get down to the beach we had to hike down this little trail, and then BOOM... out of nowhere you are surrounded by the beauty of the coast... and as far as the eye can see it BLUENESS! Some people showed up while we were there and started stetting up tents! So fun! I totally want to camp there sometime!
Next we went to these waterfalls. Apparently went the girls had gone before they had been the only ones there... well this time there were nearly a hundred Filipino’s there, and they got a kick out of making us jump off the different falls... and who knows what else! The water was so cool and refreshing... and the falls were the perfect size that you can still play in them, yet they could push you around a bit. The Filipino’s were nuts! They were jumping crazily off of all these places into not-so-deep water... so fun to watch!
We drove back to the ferry after that... and headed home. But seriously, this place is amazing. I promise I will take you all there when you come to visit:)!
The best part of all is that the whole day only cost, yep, you guessed it... 8 buckaroo’s! Can you believe it?! I can't... but man, I sure don't mind!
Well maybe I'll have to take that best part comment back... because I'm not sure if anything can interfear with the motorbikes being the ultimate highlight! I love it, I just love it!
I should go to bed now... I've got birth room shift at 6am tomorrow... so niters all!

LOIS! Hey! I thought about you the other day and was wondering if you had a blog or not... did a bit of searching and found it! I read a bit of what you've been doing, it looks like you're having a great time! I can't believe that tomorrow is OCTOBER! Time is just going by so fast... I'll write more later in an email or something k? 6am eh? Sounds like fun. Your hair looks great!

Lois, did you cut your hair, or is it just a strange angle in the picture? Anyway ... I am blown away by the goodness of God in what He is bringing you through. Not just the beauty you're surrounded with, but the quality of relationships you are engaged in and the challenge of being "full steam ahead". Love you so much!
bubber!!!
I love ya. i am going to be pissing my pants if I have to ride on the back of a bike like that when I come to visit you. :) can you rent bikes there??? if so, we'll have to get one and Cameron can drive us around so the seat won't have to be wet. haha... so i think i gathered about $3 worth of change today!! yippeee. getting closer. oh ya, i should tell you about my bike adventure. Cameron found a bike in our alley the other week that was all broken and stuff, so he fixed it. It still has some issues, for example, the seat swivels around like mad. Anyways, the other week I was going to go to an evening lecture with Cameron and so to save time, I was riding on the handlebars. after awhile, for fun, he grabbed my waist to steer as he and David Kushnak used to always do and I got seriously freaked. i panicked, leaned the wrong way and we wrecked. it was so funny! the handle bars are somewhat loosely connected, as the seat is, and the whole thing ended up so one handle was pointing forward. hilarious. I am so skittish about being barely attached to bikes. anywho, i think this is probably the longest "comment" ever. but heck. LYL!!
be well sis!
