What is called outreach...

My class had the opportunity to accompany Mordegi on outreach on Thursday... and the day held some of the greatest adventures yet...

We rode up into the beautiful mountains of Davao City... (the city limits are massive... it is totally rural out there...) and caught some stunning views as we watched the sun rise, and the amazing morning sky. We left our places at like 4:30am... and after a zillion stops to say hello to people and buy a bunch of little things we stoped to hike down to this lady's house. It was such a beautiful walk down... reminded me of the cross country track at Hebron School in India. We met a Caraeobou (buffalo type thing) on the way up with a huge load. The lady had these adorable baby goats... and we drank Milo, and had this great rice and chichen porridge.

At our next stop we had our first coke in a bag experience ala the Pilippines. It was super yummers... and like everything else that day a great photo op!

Well eventually we finially got to the village, and got to entertain kids, and help out a bit while check-ups were done, and med's were prescribed. The coolest bit was when Mordegi pulled a few teeth near the end of the day... this is like no dentist office you have ever seen! Tonnes of people watching, sitting on a wooden bench, and the only thing keeping you out of the pouring rain is a overhang! This is the life of a missionary doctor! I love it!!

The kids really were great... and so fun to play games with! What a beautiful people!

One little funny story for you all out there... I'll let you read the details on Jenna's blog from the link on my side bar... but I'll just preface it by saying that all my life I have dreamed of rideing on the back of a moterbike with my arms rapped around a lovely man... well... I kindda got my wish the on the way back from outreach... but I was on the front of a moterbike... and my arm was definently wrapped around tight... but in a perfect world I would have changed some of the minor details.
Ah well... can't get every detail right the first time... maybe next time it will be perfect... we'll see! But for real it was a blast!

lolo,

Wow!! it's so great and encouraging to hear what you're up to and to look at your pictures!

As for us we are enjoying Chile and we're even learning how to surf.

God really opened up some doors for us and it looks like we will be staffing our first DTS in January!

Looking forward to hearing more...
