This week I:
1. Made up my very first full Visyan sentence and spoke it out load. That is other than birthroom Visyan which I classify differently. This is something that I could say in public and not be looked at strange.
It was "Moadto ta sa palengke." (yep... pretty cool it means "We will go to the market.")
2. Bought a big red paper thing and hung Christmas lights in it... it reminds my of my big red light at home, and hangs from my bunk... which means I live in a palace.
3. Have been assisting in a bunch of births, and after this morning's CRAZY shift I have only 4 more births to assist with before I "Handle"... eeks. That could mean I could be catching a baby on Christmas day!
4. My house has started our Christmas celebrations, and every night we have a great activity (like Christmas dessert night, or Christmas karaoke, or Christmas popcorn snowball night) every night till Christmas. Tonight we are going to a Vietnamese buffet, and then bowling... not so Christmassy... but it is also Laura's birthday. (And Rachel Brown/Elwood's!!! Happy birthday Ratchet!!)
5. I got to witness one of my very own classmates (Jenna) handle a birth.
6. I received my first package in the mail... it was from my sister Rebecca... and full of wonderful black pens!
7. Have been LOVING the Secret Angel gift exchange with all the staff at the clinic! Our Christmas party is on the 20th... and there the secrets will be revealed.
8. I have felt very sleepy
9. I finally finished a big assignment that we'd been working on for three weeks. Just turned it in 45 minutes ago actually!
10. Made friendship tea, and have loved drinking it and sharing the stuff with the girls here. It makes it feel so much like Christmas.
Well. I guess that is enough about my week.
Here is a picture of my new room set-up with my roommate Sarah. We are the only two now, as our other roommate left to go back to Canada and get married.
We love our room.
It makes us feel like we are in a palace.
Notice the red light in the background.
Also notice the rare breed of elephant from Thailand that I have here. His name is Puket. He has traveled the world.

Hello,

I'm so happy I found your blog. I just recently applied to Newlife about a month ago. I'm still waiting to see if I'm accepted:-). I really feel that Newlife is where God is calling me and I'm very excited about it all. Reading over your blog has really brought the Philippines to life for me. Since I'm not there all I can do is read, and looking at the pictures is great! I have been following Laura's blog on xanga. Finding this blogging network has opened up so many opportunities to talk with other girls interested or attending Newlife. I just thought I would introduce myself, I would love to talk to you about life in the Philippines and MMC.I hope to maybe talk to you sometime.
